January Reading Wrap-Up
A Snapshot of What I Read
January wasn’t gentle — it opened the year with my usual emotional mix of Onyx Chaos, Sapphire Angst, and pockets of Golden Comfort. Before February takes over, here’s a quick look at the lanes that shaped my reading life this past month.

Top Reads
Take Me Back – Meghan March (4.5★ | Libby)

A marriage‑on‑the‑brink story with real emotional teeth — raw fears, buried secrets, and a reconciliation arc that genuinely earned its payoff. The blend of relationship drama and high‑stakes action hit every one of my buttons.
Hate Notes – Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward (4.5★ | KU + FREE Audible Whispersync)

A slow‑burn grumpy/sunshine romance that delivered far more emotional depth than I expected, with an epilogue that absolutely wrecked me in the best way. Charlotte and Reed’s journey felt tender, messy, and beautifully human.
The Reaper – RuNyx (4.5★ | KU)

Dark, intense, and emotionally loaded — Tristan and Morana’s chemistry, growth, and fierce devotion made this installment electric for me. The twist floored me, and the parallelism in the writing finally landed exactly as intended.

A warm, character‑driven connection built through friendship, healing, and earned trust, with just enough toxic‑ex tension to give the sweetness some bite. Tiffy and Leon’s contrasting inner worlds made their bond feel authentic and deeply satisfying for me.
Reflection & February Preview
January wasn’t gentle, but it was very me — Onyx‑heavy, emotionally charged, and a solid start to the year. I’m looking forward to seeing how February shifts the balance.
February leans Sapphire Angst and Deep Sapphire, which fits how I read anyway — so expect this month’s posts to reflect that vibe.
I also have a Feels Like February post up already if you want to see the full mood I’m working with this month.
The Emotional Borrow — A Little About My Approach
I read for the feeling a story leaves behind — the emotional borrow you carry with you after the last page. When I recommend something, it’s because the book delivered on what it promised: the tropes, the tone, the emotional payoff, and the overall experience.
I move through a lot of books across Kindle Unlimited and Audible, which means I’m always paying attention to what the genre is doing right now. I look for stories that land their beats, honor their setup, and make your time feel well spent.
Every pick I share comes from that lens: thoughtful, current, and focused on how the book actually reads, not just how it’s marketed.
Transparency is non-negotiable for me. You can read my full Review Policy for details on how I handle links and honest reviews.
